1Medical is partnering with a leading acute hospital in Donegal to recruit a Consultant Microbiologist to provide consultant-led microbiology services, working collaboratively with clinical colleagues, laboratory services, Infection Prevention and Control teams, Public Health, General Practice, Community Healthcare Networks and senior management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical microbiology advice to hospital and community healthcare teams
• Contribute to infection prevention and control programmes across acute and community services
• Support outbreak investigation and management
• Work closely with laboratory management to ensure high-quality diagnostic microbiology services
• Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service planning activities
• Participate in the consultant on-call rota as required

Requirements

• Specialist registration with the Irish Medical Council (Microbiology or Clinical Microbiology), or eligible within an acceptable timeframe
• Appropriate postgraduate qualifications consistent with Consultant appointment requirements in Ireland
• Experience in clinical microbiology, infection prevention and control, and antimicrobial stewardship
