Environmental Responsibility
We are committed to environmental responsibility across our operations in Ireland, in line with our Environmental Management & Sustainability Policy.
This means complying with all relevant environmental legislation, reducing waste, improving energy efficiency, and lowering our carbon footprint through hybrid and remote working, reduced travel and paperless systems.
Jack and Jill Foundation
We are proud supporters of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, which provides in-home nursing care and respite support for children with severe learning disabilities and complex medical needs.
Our team has taken part in fundraising challenges, including a charity abseil, to support their vital work.
Mental Health & Wellbeing
We are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our team and the doctors we work with, guided by our Mental Health Crisis Response Policy.
We proudly support Samaritans and take part in initiatives such as our July Wellbeing Challenge to promote healthy, sustainable working lives for healthcare professionals.

1Medical is proud to support the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.
Jack and Jill provides in-home nursing care and respite support for children under the age of six with severe neuro-developmental delay or a terminal illness, along with their families.
In 2026, our colleagues Liam McGrath and Diarmuid O’Mahony took on the Jack and Jill Foundation Abseil Challenge, raising vital funds to help provide this care and support to children and families across Ireland.

Sustainability is part of who we are
We care about the impact we have — on the environment, and on the communities we work in across Ireland.
We follow all the environmental rules you’d expect — the Environmental Protection Agency Act, the Waste Management Act, and the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act — and we hold our suppliers to the same standard. But we try to go further than just ticking boxes.
Day to day, that means hybrid and remote working, cutting down on unnecessary travel, and keeping things paperless where we can, all guided by our Environmental Management & Sustainability Policy and a constant eye on doing better.
We’ve also got our hands dirty (literally). Over the years we’ve planted trees with the Tree Council of Ireland here at home, and supported Greening Australia’s tree-planting work with our team in Australia — small things, but they add up.
Policy
Our Adopted Koala Ruin Way Baz
1Medical’s story started in Australia, and it’s a connection we’re proud to keep alive — including through some of our favourite charity partners.
Ruin Way Baz is our Koala we adopted from the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. Our little guy was the only Black Summer bushfire survivor. Baz unfortunately endured injuries on his claws and digits and is currently in the process of recovery.
This is our 2nd year adopting Baz and he has made significant progress; he’s learned to climb small trees but still isn’t ready for the wild just yet.
1Medical will continue to support and donate towards the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. Baz is just one of the many injured Australian wildlife we must protect from becoming endangered or worst extinct.
The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital is a wildlife rehabilitation facility and has been operating since 1973. The Koala hospital has treatment clinics, intensive care units, exhibit enclosures, and rehabilitation yards used for Koalas to go through the rehabilitation process.

ARCOS (Albertine Rift Conservation Society)
We’ve partnered with ARCOS a regional conservation organisation.
Their mission is to place healthy biodiversity and proper management of natural resources in the Albertine Rift region, Africa Great Lakes and African Mountains. ARCOS aims to do this by promoting collaborative action for nature and people.
Their vision is to build healthy ecosystems by providing sustainable benefits to people, whose livelihoods are much improved as a result of effective policies respect for nature and strong participation of stakeholders, focusing on natural resource management.
1Medical will continue to support ARCOS’ vision to build a healthy ecosystem in the Albertine Rift region, Africa Great Lakes and African Mountains.

Our adopted gorilla Taraja
We adopted Taraja a strong female gorilla from the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
Taraja has a four-month baby gorilla, she’ll have a Name Day Ceremony on the 1st of September 2023. Our director Ryan Kevelighan had the opportunity to meet Taraja and her baby.
We symbolically adopted through the Fossey Fund, to help ensure the gorilla and golden monkey’s wildness and protection for generations to come.
The animals the Fossey Fund monitor and protect every day are truly wild and are not in a sanctuary.
