The RVH Emergency Department requires an experienced locum doctor at Registrar level for a 1-year post, August 2026 to August 2027.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years’ Emergency Medicine experience
  • ALS certification (accredited course, e.g. Resuscitation Council UK)

Rota: Full shift rota covering days, evenings, nights and weekends. Nights are non-negotiable – candidates must be fully committed to all shift types on the rota.

Compliance / documents required for CV submission (Belfast HSC Trust Regional Framework):

  • Updated CV, including explanations for any gaps in employment/training
  • At least 6 months’ UK clinical experience (clinical attachments do not count)
  • GMC number with confirmation registration is up to date
  • Passport for photographic ID
  • Two recent references relevant to the specialty and grade applied for (not clinical attachment/observership references)
  • Access NI check completed, with reference number provided (a DBS check is not sufficient for Northern Ireland)
  • Statement of eligibility to work
  • Proof of qualifications (e.g. Bachelor of Medicine certificate)
  • ALS/ILS – accredited course, required for all ED shifts
  • Fit to Work form
  • Anti-coagulant certificate
  • Deprivation of Liberty / Mental Capacity Act 2005 (Level 2 and Level 3)
  • Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults & Children (SOVA/SOCA)
  • Hyponatraemia certificate
  • Infection Control certificate
  • Transfusion certificates: Right Patient Right Blood, Safe Transfusion Practice, Blood Components & Indications for Use, Consent for Transfusion

Files that are not fully compliant with the above cannot be considered. Encompass training is provided.
