Modern Slavery Statement

Last updated: 21 July 2026. This statement reflects 1Medical’s internal Modern Slavery & Human Rights Policy (POL 05, approved 06/05/2026, reviewed annually).

Our commitment

1Medical is committed to conducting its business with honesty and integrity, and in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations in the United Kingdom and Ireland, including the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and applicable Irish legislation such as the Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Acts 2008–2013. We affirm a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, and human rights abuses, and are committed to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our operations or supply chains.

Scope

This statement applies to all individuals engaged by 1Medical, including employees, contractors, and locums, and any other personnel performing work on our behalf, including those engaged in the supply, placement, or deployment of locums to external sites such as hospitals and healthcare facilities.

Understanding modern slavery

Under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (UK) and the Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Acts 2008–2018, modern slavery encompasses several forms of serious exploitation, including:

  • Trafficking of persons – the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring, or receipt of persons for the purpose of exploitation, including sexual exploitation, forced labour, slavery, servitude, or removal of organs;
  • Slavery – where a person exercises powers of ownership over another person, treating them as property and controlling their freedom;
  • Servitude – where a person is obliged to provide services and cannot refuse or leave due to coercion, abuse of power, or vulnerability;
  • Forced labour – work or service exacted under the menace of a penalty, not offered voluntarily, including through psychological coercion, threats, or deception;
  • Forced marriage – a marriage conducted without the free and full consent of one or both parties;
  • Debt bondage – where a person is required to work to pay off a debt on unfair, excessive, or indefinite terms that prevent them leaving the situation;
  • Child labour – trafficking or exploitation of children for labour, criminal activity, sexual exploitation, or other abuse; and
  • Deceptive recruiting for labour or services – misleading individuals about the nature, conditions, or legality of work, resulting in exploitation.

Risk management

1Medical works proactively to reduce the risk of modern slavery within our supply chains and operations, and expects all organisations we engage with to do the same. Management is responsible for remaining alert to potential violations and for notifying the Directors promptly of any concern. Should 1Medical identify any risk of contributing to an adverse impact on human or labour rights, we will take the necessary steps to cease or prevent our contribution and use our leverage with internal and external business networks to mitigate any remaining impact.

We pay particular attention to global labour standards, including non-discriminatory treatment and anti-harassment, workplace health and safety, adherence to minimum wages, no child labour, voluntary employment, freedom of association, and anti-slavery and human trafficking safeguards.

Human rights

All employees are treated with dignity and are not subjected to harassment or physical or mental abuse. 1Medical promotes effective employee engagement and welcomes open, sincere feedback on all matters of business interest, and operates a transparent, equitable, and predictable complaints process to enable the remediation of any abuse of human rights that may arise in our operations.

Child labour and forced labour

1Medical is committed to ensuring compliance with all employment laws and minimum age requirements. We do not engage in or support the use of forced or compulsory labour, or bonded or involuntary labour. All employees provide their services on an entirely voluntary basis and are free to leave at any time, subject to reasonable notice under their contract of employment.

Freedom of association

We respect the right of our employees to freely participate in labour unions, or choose not to participate, and the right to collectively bargain, in accordance with local law.

Our supply chain

1Medical expects all existing and new suppliers, contractors, and service providers to comply with our Supplier Code of Conduct and applicable laws in the jurisdictions in which they operate. Suppliers must take all reasonable steps to ensure there is no modern slavery or human rights abuse in their supply chains or operations, must take practical and effective action to address any instance or material risk identified, and must notify 1Medical as soon as practicable. Our contractual terms reflect these obligations, including compliance with modern slavery laws.

Prospective partners are assessed to ensure they do not knowingly engage in activities that contravene principles of international human rights or humanitarian law, violate recognised labour or health standards, or involve the production or sale of arms, tobacco, or pornography.

1Medical is not aware of any modern slavery occurring within its operations, supply chains, or those of its subcontractors. To date, neither 1Medical nor its subcontractors nor their personnel have been subject to any governmental, administrative, or regulatory investigation regarding modern slavery.

Training and continuous improvement

Where required, 1Medical provides training and communications to staff, locums, and contractors to enhance awareness of modern slavery, its impact on individuals and communities, and our policies and procedures for reducing risk. We are committed to a continuous improvement approach, seeking feedback from employees, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of our actions.

Reporting a concern

All workplace participants are encouraged to report concerns where there is a reasonable suspicion of unethical, unlawful, or non-compliant conduct, to the Senior Leadership Team including the Directors. 1Medical complies with whistleblowing protections under the UK Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 and the Irish Protected Disclosures Act 2014 (as amended). Given the hidden nature of modern slavery, all reports are handled ethically, safely, and with respect for the dignity and rights of the affected person.

Suspected cases can also be reported directly to:

  • Ireland: An Garda Síochána 999 / 112
  • UK: Modern Slavery Helpline 08000 121 700; Police 999 (emergency) / 101 (non-emergency)

Review

This statement is reviewed annually, and updated in response to changes in applicable legislation, regulatory guidance, or where operational experience demonstrates that amendments are required.
